Northland School Division (NSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Thompson as Career Pathways School Principal, effective August 26, 2024.
Thompson has been teaching with Northland since 2022 at Paddle Prairie School. In 2023, she took on the role of acting administrator, where she has enjoyed building relationships with the students and learning more about their culture and language.
"Lisa understands the context and our overarching goals at Northland School Division,” said Cal Johnson, Superintendent of Schools/CEO. “I am confident that under Lisa’s leadership, Career Pathways School students will thrive while enjoying an engaging learning experience.”
As a member of the Six Nations in Ohsweken, Ontario, Thompson is excited to prove that the opportunities are out there for Indigenous students. "You have the ability to succeed. It is this passion that I hope to bring to the students at Career Pathways, to encourage them that it is possible to fulfill your dreams."
Thompson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Lakehead University and a Master’s Degree in History from McMaster University.
She enjoys spending time with her family in nature, whether it be camping or hiking, and looks forward to exploring all that Wabasca-Desmarais has to offer.
