Helen Akranis appointed Gift Lake School Vice-Principal

Northland School Division (NSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Akranis as the Vice-Principal of Gift Lake School. With 24 years of teaching experience, including 23 years with NSD, Helen brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a deep commitment to education. She is passionate about supporting students in reaching their full potential and fostering a love for learning.

“Helen understands the context and our overarching goals at Northland School Division,” said Cal Johnson, Superintendent of Schools/CEO. “I am confident that Helen is ready for this important leadership opportunity. I believe she will do an excellent job of supporting the principal and providing strong leadership for the school.”

Helen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Education degree from King’s University. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Education, further enhancing her skills to better serve students, families, and the broader community.

Outside the classroom, Helen enjoys expressing her creativity through woodworking, beading, and crocheting. These hobbies allow her to connect with cultural traditions and inspire creativity in others, enriching her connection to the community.
