It was all smiles for Northland School Division and our friends Fort McMurray Public Schools and Fort McMurray Catholic Schools September 13th! First Book Canada donated an astounding 22,000 books (seven full skids) to support literacy in the school communities for all three school divisions. When the books are distributed to Fort McKay School, Anzac Community School, Bill Woodward School (Anzac) and Father R. Perin School, students will go home with books in bag courtesy of TD Bank.

The donation was not the only surprise. Bestselling illustrator and author Mike Boldt visited Fort McMurray students on September 13th and will be visiting Fort McKay School students September 14th! During his visit, he is showcasing his brand new book “I Don’t Want to be BIG”. Mike, who lives in the countryside near Edmonton, has been illustrating for children for the past 15-years. When he’s not drawing, Mike is building snow forts and Lego spaceships with his three kids, or sharing laughs and his ice cream with his wife.

Thank you First Book Canada, TD Bank, Penguin Random House and Wood Buffalo Regional Library for supporting students at Fort McMurray Public Schools, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools and Northland School Division!
