Northland School Division is currently seeking a full-time Family Wellness Worker to join our dedicated teams at Father R. Perin School and Conklin Community School. Father R. Perin School serves students from kindergarten to grade 9 and is located in the community of Janvier, Alberta, approximately 120 kilometers from Fort McMurray. Conklin Community School, also a kindergarten to grade 9 school, is located in the hamlet of Conklin, the southernmost community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Conklin is a quiet, rural community situated on the scenic shores of Christina Lake, about 155 kilometers southeast of Fort McMurray, accessible via Alberta Highways 63 and 881.
The Family Wellness Worker will report to the Director of Student Services and follow the central office's 12-month calendar. To learn more about what Northland School Division has to offer, please visit www.nsd61.ca/careers.
Major Responsibilities include:
- Provide intervention and/or support services to students and families who may be at risk or currently facing social, emotional, behavioral or family challenges
- Promote effective communication and parenting skills
- Build skills with the students individually and in small groups
- Assist in finding information and resources such as counseling after hour crisis response workers
- Advocate within the school and the community
- Promote preventative opportunities within the schools and community
- Collaborate with community agencies
Qualifications include:
- Degree in Social Work.
- Valid driver's license
The vision of the program is to provide free confidential intervention services to students and families in order to support their emotional, behavioral and social wellbeing. The salary for this position is based on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefit package is also provided.
