Year-end message - Board Chair
Posted on June 29
Tansi, Edlanat’e, Hello,
It is my pleasure to thank principals, teachers, Indigenous language instructors, educational assistants, liaisons, school counsellors, library assistants, secretaries, cooks, caretakers, bus drivers, maintenance personnel, mental health capacity building project staff, APPLE Schools health facilitators, central office staff, parents, community members, Elders and partners for all your hard work this year.
What a year it has been. After seven years, a Board of Trustees returned to NSD. It’s a great feeling to be involved in an important moment in NSD history.
On June 22, 2018, I received support from the trustees to continue on as Board Chair. It’s been an honour to serve in this role. There’s been a lot to learn but it’s such a rewarding experience. As Board Chair, I will continue to demonstrate my passion and commitment to ensure NSD students are strong in identity, healthy and successful.
This past year, the Board developed a new foundational policy, a policy for how we engage with school communities and key partners and started working on priorities for a Board Advocacy Plan. All of these pieces will help us strengthen relationships and better serve students and staff at NSD. The Board is looking forward to building deeper relationships with parents, community members, and partners to ensure students love to come to school in Northland and are positioned to have success in the future.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we wish you a safe and wonderful summer.
Sincerely,
Maddy Daniels
Board Chair
