Volodymyr Yahnishchak appointed as Chipewyan Lake School Principal

Northland School Division No.61 (NSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Volodymyr Yahnishchak as Chipewyan Lake School Principal. Volodymyr, who hails from Ukraine, originally joined the Chipewyan Lake School staff as a teacher.
“I possess the attributes necessary to do a great job for the students placed in my care,” said Yahnishchak. “I am patient and caring and will assist students in any way to ensure their continued success. I believe that my work experience in assisting immigrants to the country and providing many years of assistance as court interpreter affords me the knowledge that will add depth to curriculum discussions with students.”
Prior to arriving in Chipewyan Lake, Volodymyr educated students at Grant MacEwan University, Grande Prairie Regional College, and Edmonton Catholic Schools. He is a certified translator and interpreter and co-authored a book called “The History of Polish Education in Edmonton”. Volodymyr is working on another book called “The History of Chipewyan Lake School” with support from students.
Yahnishchak has a Ph.D. in History and a Master’s Degree in History and Social Studies from the University of Lviv, Ukraine.
