Spring Break Message - Superintendent of Schools

Posted on March 27

Tansi, Edlánat’e, Hello everyone,

It was with sadness to announce the loss of two staff members last week. Lee Haroldson, Mistassiniy School Teacher, and Area 1 Carpenter Jim Hockley. Mr. Haroldson, who had been an employee with NSD for eight years, was a dedicated educator who cared very deeply about the success and well-being of each student. Jim, who had been with NSD for 10 years, played an important role in creating welcoming, caring, respectful, safe and healthy learning environments for students and staff. The Northland Family will miss Lee and Jim very much. Our thoughts are with their families, as well as all the families affected.

During this difficult time, counseling support through our Employee and Family Assistance Program is available. Staff can visit the NSD website https://tinyurl.com/y6vejg9o or call Homewood Health at 1-800-663-1142.

As Spring Break approaches, it’s very important for everyone to rest and reconnect with families. Enjoy the break and come back ready for a great finish to the school year. And best of luck to all students competing in the Native Hockey Provincials in Edmonton April 5-8, 2018.

Hai Hai, Masi Cho, Thank you.

Regards,

Gord Atkinson
