Regional Spelling Bee at St. Theresa School

Kaiden Gagnon, St. Theresa School student, spelled his way to a second consecutive first place finish. He achieved the feat last year in grade 2 and once again in grade 3!
Healthy competition is truly special to watch in person and that’s what students, parents, educators and community members experienced at St. Theresa School in Wabasca-Desmarais on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
Over 70 kindergarten to grade 6 students qualified and competed at Northland School Division’s Regional Spelling Bee. Three schools from Northland School Division and Bigstone Cree Nation participated in this year’s event; St. Theresa School, Peerless Lake School and Oski Pasikoniwew Kamik (OPK) School. A milestone was achieved during this year’s event. Kaiden Gagnon, St. Theresa School student, spelled his way to a second consecutive first place finish. He achieved the feat last year in grade 2 and once again in grade 3! Students from each school qualified for the Regional Spelling Bee after placing 1st or 2nd place in their local Spelling Bee. Peggy Wheeler, Organizer and St. Theresa School Teacher says she is proud of every student.
"If you bring proud to the job, people will notice, and, even if they don't, you will notice," said Wheeler. "Always strive to do your best. I believe each and every child participating in the Regional Bee put their best foot forward, and they should each be so proud of their accomplishments, whether they placed or not."
