NSD Statement: Graves found at the Kamloops Indian Residential School
Posted on May 31
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Dr. Nancy Spencer-Poitras, Superintendent of Schools, we ask you to lower your flags to half-mast in memory of the 215 lives lost at the Kamloops Indian Residential School and to show our respect for all communities mourning. We ask that everyone remember and take the time to honor the lives lost in former residential schools.
Throughout the week, we will honor the 215 children and their families, by having our staff and students wear or colour orange shirts in tribute to all the children separated from their loving families. We will continue to support reconciliation to ensure that every child matters with loving memories and togetherness in the healing process for our communities whose children experienced the history of residential schools. Stay safe.
