NSD celebrates Indigenous Peoples Day (Aboriginal Day)

Canada’s Indigenous Peoples Day (Aboriginal Day) is annually held on June 21 to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements of the nation’s Aboriginal peoples. There are three Indigenous groups in Canada – the First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples.

Mistassiniy School: The school is organizing a number of activities to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day.
- 9:30 a.m.: Opening Ceremony
- 9:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.: Sessions include:
- Drumming
- Arts and Crafts
- Fish Making
- Hunting and trapping
- Duck Soup—Bannock—Moose Meat—Roots and
their Uses - Pow Wow Dancing
- Clothing Display
- Horse Care
- Talking Sticks
11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.: Lunch, Entertainment, and Door Prizes
12:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.: Sessions continue
2:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Closing Ceremony
