Michelle Wile appointed Director of Inclusive Education

Northland School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Wile as Director of Inclusive Education. Michelle, who recently served as Acting Director of Student Services, has been an educator for over 20 years.

Throughout her career with Northland School Division, Michelle has held a variety of roles. She served as Principal at Fort McKay School, Vice-Principal at Anzac School – Bill Woodward School, and as a teacher at St. Theresa School in Wabasca-Desmarais. She also worked as a Learning Coach and as part of the Student Services team at central office, gaining valuable experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Michelle's educational background is extensive and diverse. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Mount Saint Vincent University (2006), a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education from Acadia University (2014), a Master of Education in Inclusive Education from Acadia University (2022), and a Master of Education in Leadership and Social Justice from the University of Calgary (2023). Currently, Michelle is enrolled in a Diploma in Educational Technology at Cape Breton University.

“Michelle has demonstrated to us that she is ready to take on this important role for Northland,” said Cal Johnson, Superintendent of Schools/CEO. “Her expertise is essential as we continue to implement the Collaborative Response Model, which aims to support student success through regular team meetings, data-informed decision-making, and targeted interventions.”

Besides her academic pursuits, Michelle completed her private pilots license and plans to pursue a commercial pilot license.
