Mark Owens appointed as Associate Superintendent

Northland School Division (NSD) is pleased to announce that Mark Owens has been appointed Associate Superintendent, effective immediately. Mr. Owens has been with NSD since August 9, 2021. During his tenure with the school division, Mark has served as the Director of Student Engagement and Acting Associate Superintendent.
“Our nation-wide advertising resulted in a number of applications, “said Cal Johnson, Superintendent of Schools/CEO. “Mr. Owens has an exceptional leadership track record and offers skills that support what we do with respect to student engagement, relationship building and high school programming. I feel very confident that Mr. Owens is an excellent fit for this role.”
“I am excited to get the opportunity to continue to work with the Northland School Division,” said Owens. “It has been a great learning experience working with our principals and schools, and with the executive team that is being built within the division. I look forward to further strengthening relationships within our communities and creating positive learning experiences for our students."
Mark’s education background includes a Master of Education degree from the University of Calgary (U of C) in Education Leadership, a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta (U of A) in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Physical Education from U of A.
