Lockdown at Mistassiniy School

An altercation between two students occurred this morning at Mistassiniy School. With safety being a top priority, the school activated a Hold and Secure protocol at 10:20 a.m. A Hold and Secure is a response to an incident in the general vicinity of a school, but not near to school property.
At 11:50 a.m., a lockdown was activated after students reported a presence of a weapon in the morning altercation. During a lockdown, schools doors are locked and students and staff are not allowed to leave or enter the building until the incident is resolved.Desmarais RCMP came to the school to investigate the incident. At 1:23 p.m. the altercation was resolved and the lockdown was lifted soon after. RCMP say there was no weapon involved in the incident.
