Brittney Lyon appointed Principal at Chipewyan Lake School

Northland School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Brittney Lyon as Chipewyan Lake School Principal. During the 2022-2023 school year, Brittney served as a teacher and an Acting Principal.
“The Board congratulates Brittney on becoming the Principal at Chipewyan Lake School,” said Cathy Wanyandie, Board Chair. “We are pleased to see we have been able to retain a familiar face and an outstanding school leader for Chipewyan Lake. Being able to achieve excellence in leadership is essential to achieving our number one priority which is excellence in learning.”
“Brittney has the leadership qualities we are looking for to support the instructional focus areas in the Northland School Division,” said Cal Johnson, Superintendent of Schools/CEO. “She is a talented educator and demonstrates excellent leadership qualities. Congratulations Brittney!”
“I am excited to take on this important leadership role with Chipewyan Lake School,” said Lyon. “I want to personally thank Northland School Division for all of the professional learning opportunities and continuing education support. It has given me the confidence and the skills needed to be a school principal. I can’t wait to continue working with the Chipewyan Lake School staff and families.”
Brittney’s education includes a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. In 2022, she was nominated by Northland School Division for the Edwin Parr Teacher Award. The Edwin Parr Teacher Award recognizes first-year teachers that demonstrate exemplary dedication and commitment to the field of education.
