Art Contest for Northland students
Posted on December 8
As part of the 2017 Alberta Rural Education Symposium, artistic talents of students will be showcased March 5 – 7, 2017! To support this initiative, we are hosting our own contest!
For this contest, we encourage students to create artwork within the theme “Truth and Reconciliation through the Eyes of Alberta Youth”. This theme is an opportunity for students to explain what the nation-wide commitment to Truth and Reconciliation means to them.
This contest supports Outcome Two of the Education Business Plan 2016-2019: The achievement gap between First Nations, Métis and Inuit students and all other students is eliminated.
In particular, Key Strategy 2.1:
Ensure all students, teachers and system leaders learn about First Nations, Métis and Inuit perspectives and experiences, treaties and the history and legacy of residential schools.
Contest Criteria:
- We ask that art pieces are on 24” by 24” canvas or wooden canvas
- Include information about student’s name, brief bio of the student include grade level, school, and school division on a separate piece of paper
- Deadline to have art pieces completed is Friday, February 17, 2016
- More details about the submission process will be announced
One (1) art piece will be selected for the Alberta Rural Education Symposium showcase. Other art pieces will be showcased at the Northland School Division central office board room!
