New Principal at Dr. Mary Jackson School

Northland School Division No.61 (NSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Doreen Batchelor as Principal of Dr. Mary Jackson School. Doreen is no stranger to the school located in Keg River. She has been educating Dr. Mary Jackson students for over 40 years.
“I am excited for this opportunity,” said Batchelor.
Born and raised in Keg River, Batchelor believes her relationships with students and parents will be a benefit and says she wants better promote the school, improve communication with parents and increase opportunities for students through partnerships.
“I believe we need to better promote our school and our students,” said Batchelor. “We will be using our signage to promote events and introduce more communication tools. We will continue to partner with Paddle Prairie School to expose our junior high students to career and technology studies courses.”
Before becoming principal, Doreen has been teaching various grades and subjects, including Cree Language. In 2013, she graduated from the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP).
