Helen Akranis appointed Gift Lake School Acting Principal

Northland School Division (NSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Akranis as the Acting Principal of Gift Lake School for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.
Shamimara (Shamim) Sharif, who began the year as Principal, has chosen to transition into a teaching role for the remainder of the school year. NSD thanks Shamim for her leadership and dedication at Gift Lake School and wishes her all the best in her new teaching position at Anzac School.
Helen brings 24 years of teaching experience, including 23 years with Northland School Division. Known for her commitment to education, she is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential and inspiring a love for learning.

Helen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Education degree from King’s University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education, further enhancing her ability to serve students, families, and the broader community.
Outside the classroom, Helen enjoys expressing her creativity through woodworking, beading, and crocheting. These hobbies allow her to connect with cultural traditions and inspire creativity in others, deepening her connection to the community.
