Update: Rescheduled Zoom Meeting for Superintendent's Youth Council
Posted on November 18
Northland School Division is excited to announce the formation of the Superintendent's Youth Council, reinforcing our commitment to amplifying student voice and participation in their education.
Updated Initial Meeting Date
To allow schools more time to submit nominations, the initial Zoom meeting has been rescheduled. It will now take place on:
Date: Thursday, November 28, 2024
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Parents and guardians are welcome to attend this introductory session alongside their children. This meeting will introduce council members to their roles and provide an overview of expectations and upcoming activities.
Nomination Process
School principals are leading the nomination process to select up to 18 student representatives for the council. These students will be chosen based on their ability to represent their peers, contribute valuable insights, and participate actively in discussions. This selection will ensure a diverse range of perspectives, reflecting the experiences and backgrounds of students across the division.
We encourage parents and guardians to discuss this opportunity with their children. If a student is interested, they should speak to their teacher or principal to express their desire to be considered for the council.
First In-Person Meeting
The first in-person meeting for the council remains scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the DoubleTree West Edmonton. Details regarding hotel arrangements for student representatives will be communicated by school principals to parents and guardians.
