Important information for families from Alberta Health Services
Posted on December 15
Hello Families:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has launched an updated respiratory assessment tool to provide Albertans with guidance to manage a wide range of illnesses.
Respiratory Assessment Tool
To access the updated tool, visit https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/topics/Page17058.aspx. Building off the COVID-19 online assessment tool, the respiratory assessment tool will help guide individuals to the best care options for their symptoms, including self-care at home, or seeking care through a walk-in clinic, family physician, or pharmacy for mild to moderate symptoms.
Other Resources Available
- If you’re unsure when to seek additional care, visit https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/options/page11972.aspx.
- Health Education Learning (HEAL): https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/heal/heal.aspx

Prevention is our best opportunity to keep everyone safe. AHS strongly encourages all Albertans to get immunized against influenza and COVID-19. They also encourage the following preventative measures:
- When you feel sick, stay home and away from family and friends.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
- Cover cough and avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask in public spaces.
- Rapid test kits for COVID-19 will continue to be available at participating pharmacies across the province. They can be found on the Alberta Blue Cross website https://www.alberta.ca/rapid-testing-at-home.aspx.
Thank you for your continued support. Be safe and healthy during the holiday break.
