Northland Online School Information for Parents

Posted on June 23

Dear Parents/Guardians:

First and foremost, thank you for the continued efforts you make to support student learning in the Northland School Division. Whether it’s in-school learning or at-home learning, you have overcome challenges to help your child achieve academic success.

With the 2020-2021 school year winding down, I want to inform you about a new learning environment that is going to give Northland School Division (NSD) students another avenue to accomplish academic success. On June 1, 2021, NSD announced that they will be operating an online school for the 2021-2022 school year. Northland Online School will serve students in grades Kindergarten to Grade 9. The online school will utilize a whole school and personalized approach to learning where learners participate in inclusive and engaging online learning experiences. In this environment, student voice and choice will be encouraged and celebrated within a kind and caring community of learners.

During the 2020-2021 school year, at-home learning was delivered both at the school level and from a centralized approach. From the feedback we have received from families, there’s a demand for online learning that includes incorporating Indigenous language, culture, and local knowledge into the curriculum for the communities we serve.
