Northland School Division

Every year on November 11^th, Canadians pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served and continue to serve Canada during times of wear, conflict and peace. Northland schools are hosting Remembrance Day events to help students understand the importance of remembering the more than 150,000 Canadians who have served throughout our nation’s history and the more than 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice. 

Remembrance Day activities and events at schools

Calling Lake School: At Calling Lake School, the Cree program developed In Flanders Fields poem translated into the Cree language. Click here to watch! Poem is read by Charles Houle. 

Dr. Mary Jackson School: Remembrance Day ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 10th. Mrs. Batchelor's class presented a song and poem and Mr. Weir's class presented "In Flander's Fields" followed by a speech from Mr. Weir and wreath laying by the students. Click here to view pictures. 

Grouard Northland School: Grouard Northland School hosted a Remembrance Day ceremony today. Students shared stories of family that served in the wars and explained the meaning of Remembrance Day. http://ow.ly/UunkB

Peerless Lake School: During Cree class, Peerless Lake School students wrote In Flanders Fields poem in syllabics. They are being displayed for the school's Remembrance Day event. See pictures below.
