Are you a retired teacher or a teacher looking for an educational opportunity in Alberta’s north interested in itinerant and supply teacher needs, as well as receive benefits and remuneration for the entire school year?  Northland School Division No. 61 is seeking an advocate for indigenous education and aboriginal language and culture to help us lead the way in First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) learning. 

Applications are invited for three 0.60 FTE itinerant teaching positions that will provide 100 days of service.  The positions will be based in:

  • One position will be based in the High Prairie area (Area 1);
  • One position will be based in Wabasca, Alberta (Area 2); and
  • One position will be based Janvier or Conklin, Alberta, (Area 3).

These positions will be serving regions that are grouped by geography. The successful applicant will be expected to travel as needed, but will be compensated, and subsidized housing is available in Areas 2 and 3.

We have twenty schools in the division that offer instruction in grades K-12 to 2100 students in northern Alberta.  Kindly visit our website at www.nsd61.ca/schools for information on each school/community.

Fluency in and/or knowledge of the Cree or Chipewyan language, English as a Second Language/English Language Learning training and cross-cultural experience would be definite assets.  All candidates must be eligible for teacher certification in Alberta.
